Hi, my name is Jacob Lawrence, and I’m running for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District seat. I’m 26 years old and grew up here in NC; there’s no better place in the country to be.

Like a lot of North Carolinians and Americans, I increasingly feel like our representatives don’t necessarily represent us. Gerrymandering, out-of-control campaign spending, and other political corruption poison our democracy and disenfranchise voters.

I studied economics at Brigham Young University, where I developed a passion for how policy can directly shape opportunity for working families and local communities. After graduating, I worked with the United Nations World Food Programme, supporting smallholder farmers and rural communities. This experience showed me how important it is to have leaders who listen and respond to the needs of the people they serve.

Closer to home, I have been active in community service through groups like the Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency, helping newcomers build safe and stable lives here in North Carolina. Service, whether abroad or in my own backyard, has always been at the heart of what I do.

As your representative, I will focus on both these national issues and the challenges close to home, particularly Helene recovery and improved support for our veterans. I look forward to earning your trust and vote. Meet our team below.

Meet Jacob.

Our Team

  • Brian Carss | Communications Lead

The United States is an experiment in democracy. When gerrymandering exists and billions are dumped into electing candidates who just want to enrich themselves, it does everyone a disservice. Especially those who have fought for a say in this experiment.

  • Talmage Roberts | Treasurer & Compliance Lead

Every individual deserves to be heard, respected, and fairly represented. Yet gerrymandering and political corruption undermine that basic principle, silencing communities, distorting elections, and concentrating power in the hands of the few at the expense of true democratic participation.

  • Brianna Pennington | Volunteer Organizer Lead

I believe that every citizen’s voice deserves to be heard and vote deserves to matter. Ending gerrymandering and corruption will allow politicians to focus on the real issue at hand: representing the best interests of the people they serve.

  • Rebekah Olsen | Volunteer Organizer

Politics and representation should be fair and actually representative of the population. Corruption has no place in our politics and the people of North Carolina and the United States deserve honesty in their leadership.

  • Julia Siqueira | Design & Web Lead

Because a democracy should work for the people, not just the powerful. If we don’t fix rigged maps, dirty money, and corruption, we lose our voice and our future. Our team at Lawrence for Congress will fix this.

  • Haley Vuncannon | Web & Media Design

Gerrymandering drowns out the voices of everyday people. When elections are unfair and don’t represent the make up of the community, people don’t get the representation they deserve. This causes policies that don’t reflect the needs of the people.
